NIF Tour

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is home to the National Ignition Facility (NIF). NIF is a national resource — a unique experimental facility addressing compelling national security, energy, and science missions.

NIF's 192 powerful laser beams, housed in a 10-story building the size of three football fields, can deliver nearly 2 million joules of ultraviolet laser energy in billionth-of-a-second pulses to the target chamber center.

NIF was featured in a BBC broadcast on fusion. Check out other videos on NIF.

A tour of the National Ignition Facility will be offered the afternoon of Wednesday June 12, 2013 to conference attendees and their guests. Don't miss this highlight tour.
